Yes, Dr Steffany, that is essentially correct. But the biomechanics differ so much that it needs special training and very good patience to achieve the same level of excellence with Lingual than with labial. I would not recommend something like a short term ortho appliance in the Lingual, especially with extraction mechanics (which though, has become easier than before with custom cast brackets in Lingual). But of course all depends on the case :)

What lingual braces do is take the traditional front-mounted bracket process, however they mount them on the back of the teeth. It has all the accuracy of braces while not having to see the metallic attachments
